Ninveh Hiskail of Modesto California School of Podiatric Medicine – Attending September, 2007 - Current Major:
Medicine, Podiatrist “Throughout my
entire life, I have always been asked what my name “Ninveh”
means. Since the time I first started school, I always let them know
that my name represented the ancient Assyrian city of Nineveh, the
oldest Capital in the world. People always seemed amazed that such
an ancient culture still thrives today. Because of their
astonishment, I have always made it a point to talk about my culture
to anyone who is willing to listen and learn…….”
Natalie Badalof of Valencia Univesity of California, Irvine Attending September, 2009 Major:
Engish / Minor: Latin “To be an
Assyrian is both a unique struggle and a cherished gift. I am
blessed with a naturally strong-willed ancestry that has endured
through hardship and suffering, yet has continued to maintain a
sense of pride and faith. My parents have taught me the
importance of taking part in the activities and efforts of the
Assyrian people in order to become more acquainted with my culture
and the community of our people. They have also instilled in me a
sense of honor to be part of this culture. As an Assyrian, I have
learned that I have the opportunity to make a difference…that none
of my good intentions or efforts towards the advancement of our
people is too small or insignificant……” Adrina Gabriel of Turlock Caifornia State University, Stanislaus Attending September, 2007 - Current Major:
Bachelor's Degree - Business “The contributions and developments Assyrians have made include advances in mathematics, literature, and law as well as in many other fields of study to name a few. Their innovative establishments allowed for the creation of a culture that left an impacting influence illuminating the way for not only other great innovations but for other societies to look upon what was left by the Assyrians as a reflection to the world of what the definition of design, ingenuity, and achievement truly was ranging from highly developed libraries, expansions in the field of medicine and even the well-known lens that we are so dependent upon today, then called the Nimrud lens. Defining what is means to be an Assyrian is defining how an Assyrian can take and run with six-thousand seven hundred fifty eight years brimming and full of achievements made to the civilization, the history, the culture, as well as the traditions of a nation so ancient and being able to live up to the standards of success that have been set by our ancient ancestors. They portrayed this standard of success by being the founders of civilization as well as becoming a ruling and powerful nation……..” | |
